The Sound and Fury of _________.

Photo by Prawny on Morgue File.

Blank. Write a new post in response to today’s one-word prompt.

Blank . . . how do you show blank?

It is impossible. As soon as you type anything, you have moved beyond blank. I suppose I could simply post a blank page. But such things would not go over well on a blog.  Read the rest of this entry »

Time Aboard the TARDIS!

Photo by earl53 on Morgue File.

You get to choose one superpower. Pick one of these, and explain your choice:

  • the ability to speak and understand any language
  • the ability to travel through time
  • the ability to make any two people agree with each other

I have recently, something to my wife’s chagrin, become a fan of Doctor Who. Of course, I had heard of the show before, but had never watched any episode in all these years. I just assumed it was one of those quirky British shows (which, of course, it is!) and left it at that. Read the rest of this entry »

Ode to an Avalanche . . .

DCF 1.0

Photo by phestus on Morgue File.

You were caught in an avalanche. To be rescued, you need to make it through the night. What thought(s) would give you the strength to go through such a scary, dangerous situation?

Soft powder,

Like bits of cloud

swirl in my turbulent air. Read the rest of this entry »

The Old Journal (Short Fiction)

Photo by Sgarton on Morgue File.

Is there a person you should’ve thanked, but never had the chance? Is there someone who helped you along the way without even realizing it? Here’s your chance to express your belated gratitude.

The window panes sighed a chilly breath of winter as the wind howled against their face. The fireplace crackled and sparked, as the fire lapped at each woody morsel, feasting on its hearty meal in the stone hearth. The light was dim; the sort of soft glow that made eyes blur if concentrated in one spot for more than a few seconds.  Read the rest of this entry »

Change is not a Four-Letter Word!

Photo by ricksanchez on Morgue File.

Today, write about any topic you feel like — but you must reuse your opening line (at least) two more times in the course of your post.

It has been a good while since I have done a daily post. Life has been busy as late and I have been focusing more on other topics on my blog. But, I thought it would be fun to take the cause up again on a nice, wet rainy morning! Read the rest of this entry »

Jesus, the Paralytic Through the Roof and Mind-Reading!

Photo by Sgarton on Morgue File.

Who’s the last person you saw before reading this prompt? Whether it’s a family member, a coworker, or a total stranger, write a post about what that person is thinking right now.

It is interesting to have this prompt this particular morning. I say that because I have been reading and pouring over the first couple of chapters in the gospel of Mark. In fact, I taught from the first half of chapter one last night at my local church. Mark is a fascinating gospel. Most scholars agree that Mark was the first gospel written, which they refer to as Markan priority.  Read the rest of this entry »

Traveling Through Time at 88 MPH!

Photo by Alvimann on Morgue File.

Your local electronics store has just started selling time machines, anywhere doors, and invisibility helmets. You can only afford one. Which of these do you buy, and why?

Gadgets, gadgets and more gadgets. We live in a gadgetized world. Everywhere you look it’s gadgets, gadgets, gadgets. I am old enough, (I hate the way that sounds!), to remember a world and a life without all these newfangled electronic gadgets. I can remember a time when the only gadget I would think of had an Inspector in front of it! Read the rest of this entry »
