Look in the mirror. Does the person you see match the person you feel like on the inside? How much stock do you put in appearances?
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest . . . Oh, never mind. I am not looking to be the fairest in the land; probably a good thing for me! Appearances can be used, portrayed, manipulated, exaggerated and downplayed. We can make our appearances to, as best they can, reflect how we feel inwardly.
